New Permanent Representative of the Philippines
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 25 June (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Philippines, H.E. Ms. Lourdes Ortiz Yparraguirre, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Antonio Maria Costa.

Ms. Yparraguirre is also serving as Ambassador to the Republic of Austria with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Croatia, Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic.

Ms. Yparraguirre has served in various capacities in the course of her career with the Department of Foreign Affairs, among them: Assistant Secretary, Office of American Affairs (2008 - 2010), Special Assistant to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs (2006-2008), Minister Political and Economic Affairs, Embassy of the Philippines, Washington D.C. (2000-2006), Executive Director, Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Affairs (1996-2000), First Secretary Disarmament and Humanitarian Affairs and WTO-GATT Negotiator, Philippine Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva (1989-1996).

Prior to joining the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Yparraguirre was a Senior Economic Development Specialist at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

Ms. Yparraguirre graduated from Maryknoll College, Quezon City, Philippines with a B.A. in International Studies (cum laude) and earned a Diploma in International Economics and Development (with distinction) from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, The Netherlands.
