New Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 17 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Valeriu Chiveri, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Chiveri is also serving as Ambassador to the Republic of Austria.

Mr. Chiveri has served in various capacities in the course of his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, among them: Project Co-ordinator, OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan (2009-2010); Political Officer, OSCE Centre in Almaty/Astana, Kazakhstan (2006-2009); Political Officer, OSCE Centre in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (2005-2006); Counselor, Embassy of the Republic of Moldova to Austria/Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the OSCE (2001-2005); Deputy Head, International Security Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000-2001); Political Officer, OSCE Mission to Georgia (1999-2000); First Secretary/Counselor/Head of Division, International Security Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-1999); Second Secretary, Commonwealth of Independent States Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1995-1998).

Mr. Chiveri graduated from the Technical University, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova in 1990 as a Civil Engineer. He also studied International Relations at the National School for Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest, Romania, European Security at the George Marshall Centre for Security Studies in Germany and Modern Languages at Moldovan State University.

Born in 1963, Mr. Chiveri is married with two children.
