New Permanent Representative of Ukraine
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 15 October (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Ukraine, Ihor Prokopchuk, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Prokopchuk has served in various capacities in the course of his diplomatic career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, among them: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania (2008-2010); Director-General, Fourth Territorial Directorate (Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Southern Caucasus and Turkey) (2006-2008); Deputy Director-General - Head of Section for Central and Eastern Europe, Second Territorial Directorate (Europe and Americas) (2005-2006); Director, Third Territorial Department (Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Southern Caucasus and Turkey) (2004-2005); Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (2001-2004); Deputy Director - Head of the US and Canada Section, Fourth Territorial Department (1998-2001); Private Secretary-Counsellor, Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (1998); Third Secretary, Second Secretary, Embassy of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (1994-1997); Attaché, Third Secretary, Second Secretary, Department of Information (1992-1994).

In the multilateral field, Mr. Prokopchuk served as an Adviser to the Office of the President of the 52nd UN General Assembly (1997-1998).

Mr. Prokopchuk graduated from Kyiv State University in 1992. He speaks English, Russian and Polish.

He is married with two children.
