Yumkella and Spindelegger to Present Key Report
on Energy and Climate Change

VIENNA, 17 May (UN Information Service) - The heads of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Kandek K. Yumkella and Michael Spindelegger, will present a key energy report in Vienna on Wednesday.

The report, "Energy for a Sustainable Future", prepared by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon's Advisory Group on Energy and Climate Change (AGECC), calls for expanding energy access to more than two billion people, and for scaling up efforts to increase energy efficiency and clean energy efforts to meet the climate challenge and realize the Millennium Development Goals.

The Advisory Group will work with UN-Energy, an interagency coordinating mechanism for energy issues, to implement the recommendations in the course of this year. Both AGECC and UN-Energy are chaired by Director-General Yumkella.

Journalists are invited to attend the event at 14:00 hours, on Wednesday, 19 May, in the Hofburg's Kleiner Redoutensaal, Joseph Platz, Vienna.
