New Permanent Representative of Viet Nam
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 13 May (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Nguyen Thiep presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Thiep is also designated Ambassador to the Republic of Austria as of March 2011. He has served in various capacities in the course of his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam which he entered in 1993, among them: Director-General Europe Department (2008-2011), Deputy Director-General of the Europe 2 Department (2006-2008). Mr. Thiep served in various overseas posts including the Embassy of Viet Nam in Algeria (1989-1992) and the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations in Geneva (2002-2005).

Mr. Thiep holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Diplomacy of Viet Nam. He speaks English and French and is married with two children.
