New Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 31 August (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Galib Israfilov, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov.
Until his latest appointment, Mr. Israfilov was Counselor for Political Affairs in the Congressional Liaison of the Embassy of Azebaijan to the United States in Washington (2009-2011). He served in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among them: Deputy Director, Department of Security Affairs (2007-2009); Head of Division, Department of Security Affairs (2005-2007) and Attaché in the Department of International Organizations (1997-1999). From 2003 to 2005, he held the post of Second Secretary and First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations in New York. Mr. Israfilov was Third Secretary and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Austria and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna from 1999 to 2002.
Mr. Israfilov studied International Relations at Baku State University, Azerbaijan and at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. He speaks English, Russian and German and is married with two sons.
