New Permanent Representative of China
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 8 July (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China, Jingye Cheng, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov.

Until his latest appointment, Mr. Cheng has served in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among them: Director General, Department of Arms Control (2007-2011); Deputy Director, Department of Arms Control (2000-2003); Division Director and Counsellor, Department of International Organizations and Conferences (1995-2000); and Second Secretary and Deputy Division Director, Department of International Organizations and Conferences (1993-1994). From 2006 to 2007 he held the post of Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, before which Mr. Cheng was Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations from 2003-2006.

Mr. Cheng studied diplomacy at Lancaster University (UK) and is married with one son.
