New Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 4 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia, Arman Kirakossian, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
Mr. Kirakossian is Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia since 2005. During his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he has served in various capacities, among them: Ambassador to the United States of America and Permanent Observer to the Organization of American States (1999-2005); Ambassador to Greece, also accredited to Cyrus, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1994-1999); Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs (1992-1993) and First Deputy Foreign Minister (1991-1994). He also worked for the Armenian National Academy of Sciences as Project Director at the Armenian Diaspora Studies Department (1990-1991) and for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia as Advisor on Science and International Relations (1986-1990).
Mr. Kirakossian holds a Ph.D. in History from the Armenian Academy of Sciences and worked as a Professor of History and International Relations at Yerevan State University. He speaks English and Russian and is married with a son.
