New Permanent Representative of Italy
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 14 June (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Italy, Filippo Formica, presented his credentials today to Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov.
During his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he joined in 1980, Mr. Formica has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Director General for Political Affairs (2007-2012); Director of the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Department (2003-2007); Chair of the Non-Proliferation Directors Group of the G8 (2009).
Mr. Formica served in the Italian Representations in Geneva (UN), in Dakar as Deputy Chief of Mission and in Washington D.C. and Brussels (EU) as Political Counsellor. He also worked in the office of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of the Diplomatic Counsellor of the President.
Mr. Formica holds a degree in International Law from the University of Rome and a degree in European Community Law from the College of Europe of Bruges.
His focus areas are International Organizations, security matters and issues of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.
