New Permanent Representative of Iceland Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 30 July (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Iceland to the United Nations (Vienna), Audunn Atlason, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career in Foreign Affairs, Mr. Atlason has served in various capacities, among them:

European Policy Advisor (2011-2013); Director, Department for Information (2009-2011); Deputy-Director, Defense Department (2008-2009); Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy New Delhi (2006-2007); Counselor, Embassy Washington D.C. (2002-2006); Director, Crisis Response Unit (2001-2002);  First Secretary (1999-2002); International Secretary, Parliament of Iceland (1997-1999).

Mr. Atlason holds an M.A. (Diplom) in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin. He speaks English and German and knows some Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.
