VIENNA, 27 August (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations (Vienna), Liselotte Plesner, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During her career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, which she joined in 1987, Ms. Plesner has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador of Denmark to Israel (2008-2013); Political Director and Ambassador (2005-2008); Head of Department of relations with OECD countries and EU enlargement (2003-2005); Head of Department of EU enlargement and Central and Eastern European countries as well as Switzerland, Turkey, Cyprus and Malta (2001-2003); Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy in Rome (1997-2001); Private Secretary to the Foreign Minister, subsequently head of the Private Office of Niels Helveg Petersen (1995-1997); Secretary of Embassy, Bonn (1991-1994); Desk Officer, Department of Asia (1990-1991); Department of Policy and Planning/ Development Cooperation and Assistant to the Under-Secretary for International Development Cooperation (Danida) (1988-1990); Department of International Maritime Transportations and Aviation (1987-1988).
Ms. Plesner holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University Aarhus. She speaks English, Italian, German, French and some Hebrew.
She is married and has one son.
