VIENNA, 16 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Iran, Reza Najafi, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Najafi has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Director General, International Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2013); Director for Disarmament and International Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006 - 2012); Disarmament Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Iran to the United Nations, New York (2002-2006); Disarmament Counsellor, Department of Disarmament and International Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2002); Disarmament Expert and Alternate of the Permanent Representative of Iran to the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), The Hague, the Netherlands (1996-1999).
Mr. Najafi has a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Tehran. He is a Ph.D candidate in International Law at the University of Tehran.
