VIENNA, 18 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations (Vienna), Anu Laamanen, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During her career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Ms. Laamanen has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Director General, Political Department (2007 - present); Director, Unit for Civilian Crisis Management, Political Department (2003 - 2007); Deputy Director for the Unit for Security Policy, Political Department (2001 - 2003); Counsellor, NATO and general security policy in the Unit for Security Policy, Political Department (2000 - 2001); Counsellor, Military and civilian crisis management Unit for Security Policy, Political Department (1998 - 1999); Counsellor, Deputy Permanent Representative, Finland's Permanent Mission to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Vienna (1995 - 1998); First Secretary, Adviser to the Director General of the Political Department (1993 - 1995); First Secretary, Office for Western Europe, Political Department (1992 - 1993); First Secretary, The Embassy of Finland in Oslo, Norway (1988 - 1991); First Secretary, Office for United Nations issues (1998); First Secretary, Office for security policy issues (1986 - 1987); Attaché, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1987); First Secretary, Office for United Nations issues (1986).
Ms. Laamanen holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Helsinki.
