New Permanent Representative of Namibia Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 24 October (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Namibia, Simon Madjumo Maruta, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Maruta is also serving as Ambassador to Austria.

During his career, Mr. Maruta has served in various capacities, among them:

Chargé d' Affaires, Permanent Mission of Namibia to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) (2010 - 2013); Acting Deputy Director and Financial Adviser to the Permanent Secretary (2009); Vice President of African Diplomat, Abuja, Nigeria (2005 - 2008); First Secretary, Namibian Mission in Abuja, Nigeria (2004 - 2005); First Secretary, Namibian Embassy in Vienna (1997 - 2002); Chief Accountant, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997); Principle Accountant; Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994 - 1997); Senior Accountant, Ministry of Finance/Accountant, Ministry of Education (1992 - 1994); Justice and Peace Commission of the Roman Catholic Church, Vicariate of Windhoek (1988 - 1992); Accountant, Administration for Kavango (1987 - 1988); Assistant Accountant, Administration for Kavango (1984 - 1987).

Mr. Maruta holds a diploma in public finance and auditing, and a Bachelor's of Commerce Degree (Inc.) from the University of Zululand in South Africa, and a diploma in Business Administration from the Open University, United Kingdom.

He is married and has three children.
