New Permanent Representative of Canada Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 7 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Canada, Mark Bailey, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Bailey is also serving as Ambassador-designate to Austria and Slovakia.

During his career, Mr. Bailey has served in various capacities, among them:

Director General of the Middle East Bureau, Department of External Affairs; Special Adviser on Iran and Syria (2012); Ambassador to Turkey with non-resident accreditation to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkmenistan; Ambassador to Syria; Ambassador to Morocco; Director General of the Middle East and North Africa Bureau, Department of External Affairs; Director of the Assignments Division, Department of External Affairs; Director of the Maghreb and Arabian Peninsula Division, Department of External Affairs; Director of the International Financial and Investment Affairs Division, Department of External Affairs; Deputy Director of Investment Policy and Financial Affairs, Department of External Affairs; Desk officer for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Personnel Operations Division, Department of External Affairs (1973).

Mr. Bailey holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Victoria.
