VIENNA/GENEVA, 27 August 2013, (UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights) - The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is due to review Austria's record on 2 and 3 September in sessions that will be webcast live.
As one of the 133 States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Austria is required to submit regular reports to the Committee.
The CRPD, which is composed of 18 international independent human rights experts, will also engage in a dialogue with the delegation from the Austrian Government. It will also hear from organizations representing disabled persons, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and national human rights institutions.
The sessions will take place on Monday 2 September from 15:00 to 18:00 and on Tuesday 3 September from 10:00 to 13:00 Geneva time (CEST) at Palais Wilson in Geneva.
