VIENNA, 28 February (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations (Vienna), Kairat Sarybay, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
Mr. Sarybay is also serving as Ambassador to Austria.
During his career, Mr. Sarybay has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (2010-2014); Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan on International Issues (2008-2010); Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Coordinator for interaction with the European Union (2007-2008); Ambassador to Germany (2003-2007); Ambassador to Turkey (1999-2003); Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs (1998-1999); Head of the Protocol Service, Press Secretary - Head of the Press Office of the President (1996-1998); Second Secretary, Embassy in Turkey (1994-1996); Counsellor, Information Analysis Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994); Third Secretary, Embassy of Kazakhstan to Turkey (1992-1994); Second Secretary, Consular Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1991-1992); Senior Research Fellow, Scientific Information and Chronology Department, Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Research Intern, Institute of Linguistics, USSR Academy of Sciences (1988-1991).
Mr. Sarybay holds a degree from the Leningrad State University, Russian Federation. He speaks Russian, English, German and Turkish.
Mr. Sarybay is married and has two children.
