New Permanent Representative of Colombia presents credentials

VIENNA, 10 April (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations (Vienna), Jaime Alberto Cabal Sanclemente, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Cabal is also serving as Ambassador-designate to Austria.

During his career, Mr. Cabal has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador of Colombia to the Republic of Korea and non-resident Ambassador to the Philippines and Mongolia (2011-2013); President of the Hotel and Tourism Association of Colombia (COTELCO) (2002-2011); President of the Danaranjo S.A. Company (2001-2002); Minister of Economic Development (1999-2000); Minister-Delegate for Work, Agriculture and Foreign Trade (1999-2000); President of the Colombian Small and Medium Enterprises Business Association (1994-1999); President of the Colombian Business Association Council (1998-1999); EU Senior consultant in social projects on business development for the nongovernmental organizations from Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (1992-1994); various managerial positions on social programmes for entrepreneurship and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (1982-1994).

Mr. Cabal studied Industrial Engineering at the Javeriana University in Bogota and English Language and Economy at the Georgetown University. He holds a M.A. Degree in Economy from the American University in Washington D.C.

Mr. Cabal is married and has one child.
