VIENNA, 2 May (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations (Vienna), Song Young-wan, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Song has served in various capacities, among them:
Consul-General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle (2011); Director-General, International Organizations Bureau (2006); Minister, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN, New York (2005); Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Egypt (2000); Director, UN division, Office of Policy Planning and International Organizations (1999); Director, UN Economic Affairs Division, Office of Policy Planning (1998); First Secretary, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the EU, Brussels (1995); Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria (1992); Second Secretary, Permanent Observer Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN (1986).
Mr. Song holds a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics from the Seoul National University and a Master's Degree in International Relations from the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris.
Mr. Song is married and has one child.
