VIENNA, 19 May (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the United Nations (Vienna), Marios Ieronymides, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
Mr. Ieronymides is also serving as Ambassador-designate to Austria.
During his career, Mr. Ieronymides has served in various capacities, among them:
Director, Division for the Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2014); Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President and Director of the Administration of the Presidency (2012); Ambassador to China (2007-2011); Chief of the State Protocol (2006-2007); Director, Service for Overseas Cypriots, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2006); Ambassador to Syria (2002-2005); Political Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001-2002); Ambassador to Iran (1999-2001); Chargé d'Affaires a.i. to Libya (1994-1999) and Hungary (1992-1994); Counsellor, Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1990-1992); First Secretary (1985-1990) and Chargé d'Affaires a.i. (1988), Embassy in Belgrade; Attaché, Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1981-1985).
Mr. Ieronymides holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law from the University of Athens, Greece and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Law from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom. He speaks Greek, English and Serbian.
Mr. Ieronymides is married and has two children.
