VIENNA, 4 July (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations (Vienna), Gonzalo De Salazar Serantes, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. De Salazar Serantes has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Director-General, Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2014); International Coordinator, Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (2011-2013); Chairman of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Committees (2010); Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy in Warsaw (2004-2008); Political Counsellor, Embassy in Paris (1999-2004); Head of Division of Nuclear Non-Proliferation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-1999); Counsellor, Embassy in Copenhagen (1993-1997); First Secretary, Embassy in Moscow (1990-1993); First Secretary, Embassy in Addis Ababa (1988-1990); Desk Officer, Directorate of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1987-1988).
Mr. De Salazar Serantes holds a Ph.D. in Political Science - International Relations and a Ph.D. in Social Communication.
