New Permanent Representative of Thailand presents credentials

VIENNA, 25 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations (Vienna), Arthayudh Srisamoot, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Srisamoot is also serving as Ambassador-designate to Austria.

During his career, Mr. Srisamoot has served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he joined in 1988, among them:

Director-General, Department of ASEAN Affairs (2012-2014); Consul-General, Consulate-General of Thailand, Vancouver (2010); Deputy Director-General, Department of ASEAN Affairs (2007); Director, Department of European Affairs (2005); Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations Office in Geneva (2002); First Secretary, then Counsellor, Secretariat of the Department of ASEAN Affairs (1996); First Secretary, Commerce and Industry Division, Department of ASEAN Affairs (1996); Second, then First Secretary, Embassy of Thailand, Manila (1991); Second Secretary, Southeast Asia Division, Department of Political Affairs (1991); Third Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs and the South and West Asia Division, Department of Political Affairs (1989);

Prior to that Mr. Srisamoot was in the Supreme Command Headquarters of the Royal Thai Armed Forces (1985-1988).

Mr. Srisamoot holds a Bachelor's Degree from Monmouth College, Illinois and a Master's degree in Economic Policy from the University of Chicago.

Mr. Srisamoot is married.
