Internationally known British actor and comedian, Russell Brand has been an outspoken civil society advocate on drug control policies with a clear and critical voice on the criminal punishment of drug users and calling for high quality and human rights compliant treatment to be provided to those affected by drug dependence around the world. His interest in drug policy brings him to Vienna as a special guest to meet and speak with other civil society advocates as well as to observe how the member states of the United Nations make decisions about the global drug control system at the annual session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
