Violence against children, illicit timber trafficking, and smuggling of migrants to be examined at Crime Commission

VIENNA, 28 April (UN Information Service) - Media are invited to attend the opening of the 23 rd Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice as well as side-events from 12-16 May, in the Vienna International Centre. The main theme of this year's Crime Commission is international cooperation on criminal matters.

Draft resolutions tabled at the Commission include: smuggling of migrants; trafficking in cultural property; killing of journalists; trafficking in organs, including trafficking in persons for organ removal; violence against children; and the rule of law, crime prevention and criminal justice in the post-2015 UN development agenda.

The Opening Session, all plenary sessions, as well as side events are open to the media.
