In May 2013, a group of designers from South Africa came up with an idea to celebrate Nelson Mandela's life by collecting 95 posters from around the world, honouring Madiba's lifelong contribution to humanity. In 60 days, designers from more than 70 countries submitted more than 700 posters. The submissions were curated, and the final collection of 95 exceptional posters has been exhibited in South Africa and is showing in different countries around the world. In the process, the project has successfully achieved the aim of raising a substantial sum of money for the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust Fund. It was Mr. Mandela's dream to build a hospital to cater for the medical needs of children in the Southern African region. This project by artists across the globe has contributed in no small measure to the realization of this goal. This hugely inspirational story of global collaboration is called Mandela Poster Project.
The exhibition will be on display in the Rotunda of the VIC from 14 to 18 July 2014.
