Human trafficking tops agenda at Transnational Organized Crime Conference

VIENNA, 25 September (UN Information Service) -Media are invited to attend the Seventh session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime from 6 to 10 October 2014.

A press conference will be held on Monday, 6 October.

WHAT: Press conference with Yury Fedotov, Executive Director, UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and the President of the COP, Ambassador Cristian Istrate (Romania)

WHERE: Press Room, M Building, Vienna International Centre

WHEN: Monday 6 October at 12:00 noon

The Opening Session, all plenary sessions, as well as side events, are open to the media.

During the week of the conference, over 30 side events will focus on transnational organized crime challenges ranging from trafficking in human organs to wildlife and forest crime, and from protecting vulnerable minors in West Africa to crime and corruption in Latin America. The conference is due to discuss draft resolutions on human trafficking, smuggling of migrants and firearms smuggling among other matters.
