VIENNA, 4 May (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations (Vienna), Adnan Bin Othman, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
Mr. Bin Othman is currently serving as Ambassador designate of Malaysia to Austria.
During his career, Mr. Bin Othman has served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he joined in 1984, among them:
Undersecretary - Africa (2010-2011); Undersecretary - National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (2010); Undersecretary - South East Asia (2008-2010); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Cambodia (2005-2008); Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia to Indonesia (2004-2005); Undersecretary - Special Tasks (2003-2004); Principal Assistant Secretary - External Relations (2001-2003); Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia to Sweden (1998-2001); Special Officer to the Secretary General of Malaysia (1996-1998); First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia to China (1994-1996); Assistant Secretary - Policy planning (1994); Second Secretary at the High Commission of Malaysia to India (1994); Assistant Secretary - International Organizations (1991-1994); Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York (1988-1991); Assistant Secretary - East Europe(1984-1988).
Mr. Bin Othman holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Malaya and a Diploma in Public Management from the National Institute of Public Administration.
Mr. Bin Othman is married and has four children
