VIENNA, 11 November (UN Information Service) - The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Estonia to the United Nations (Vienna), Rein Oidekivi, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Oidekivi has served in various capacities, among them:
Head of Foreign Relations Department and Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of Parliament, Parliament of Estonia (2011-2015); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Serbia, in Sofia and Tallinn (2009-2012); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Bulgaria (2007-2011); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Bosnia and Herzegovina in Tallinn and in Sofia (2005-2012); Director General, Press and Information Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2007); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Lithuania (2000-2004); Director of Division (Eastern Europe and Central Asia), Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-2000); Chargé d'affaires a.i., Counsellor, Estonian Embassy in Kyiv (1995-1998); Director of Division, Press and Information Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1992-1995); Director of Studies, Tallinn Old Town Language Centre (1990-1992).
Mr. Oidekivi graduated from Tartu University, in Estonian philology.
Mr. Oidekivi speaks English, Finnish, Russian.
Mr. Oidekivi is married and has two children.
