New Permanent Representative of Cuba presents credentials

VIENNA, 11 November (UN Information Service) - The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations (Vienna), Juan Antonio Fernandez Palacios, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Fernandez Palacios has served in various capacities, among them:

President of the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO and Representative of Cuba to the Executive Board of UNESCO (2009-2015); Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations Office in Geneva and the International Organizations in Switzerland (2005-2009); Director of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001-2005); Deputy Director, Directorate of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-2000); Second Secretary, Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations (1993-1997); Officer, Office of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1987-1993).

Mr. Fernandez Palacios holds a degree in International Political Relations from the Institute of International Relations 'Raul Roa Garcia'.

Mr. Fernandez Palacios speaks English and French.

Mr. Fernandez Palacios is married and has two children.
