VIENNA, 18 June (UN Information Service) - Every year, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime's World Drug Report provides a global overview of the latest developments in the world's illicit drug markets.
Based on comprehensive information drawn from global sources, the World Drug Report examines the production, trafficking and consumption of illicit drugs, while assessing the related health consequences.
This year, Chapter 1 of the World Drug Report 2015 looks at the supply and demand of opiates, cocaine, cannabis, amphetamine-type-stimulants (ATS), and new psychoactive substances.
In September, countries will adopt a new development agenda; a second chapter highlights how alternative development for farmers involved in illicit crop cultivation links to the wider development agenda.
Journalists are invited to attend the press briefing with UNODC experts who can provide insights into the trends and movements behind the report's findings.
