VIENNA, 7 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of United Kingdom to the United Nations (Vienna), Mr. Leigh Turner, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career Mr. Turner has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador to Austria and UK Permanent Representative to the UN and other International Organizations, Vienna (2016); Consul General and Director General for Trade & Investment for Turkey, South Caucasus and Central Asia, Istanbul (2012-2016); Ambassador to Ukraine, Kyiv (2008-2012), Director, Overseas Territories Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) (2006-2008); Counsellor (EU/Economic), Bonn/Berlin (1998-2002); Deputy Head of the Hong Kong Department at the FCO (1995-1998); First Secretary (Economic), Moscow (1992-1995); Desk Officer, Europe Directorate, and other positions at the FCO (1987-1991); Second Secretary, Vienna (1984-1987).
Mr. Turner studied at Cambridge University.
Mr. Turner speaks English, German, French, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian and Spanish.
