VIENNA, 18 October (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Australia to the United Nations (Vienna), H.E. Mr. Brendon Charles Hammer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career Dr. Hammer has served in various capacities, among them:
First Assistant Secretary, Americas Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) (2013-2016); Deputy Head of Mission, Tokyo (2010-2013); First Assistant Secretary, Southeast Asia Division, DFAT (2009-2010); Deputy Director-General, Office of National Assessments (2004-2009); Assistant Secretary, Parliamentary & Media Liaison Branch, DFAT (2003-2004); Assistant Secretary, Iraq Taskforce, DFAT (2003); Assistant Secretary, Americas Branch, DFAT (2002-2003); Assistant Secretary, Defence, Security and Intelligence Branch, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (1999-2003); Director, Nuclear Trade and Security Division, DFAT (1998-1999); First Secretary, later Counsellor (Political), Washington D.C. (1995-1998); Deputy Director, Chemical and Biological Weapons Arms Control Section, DFAT (1993-1995); Analyst, Office of National Assessments (1989-1993).
Dr. Hammer holds a PhD in Chemistry from the Australian National University.
