VIENNA, 22 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations (Vienna), Maria Assunta Accili Sabbatini, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During her career Ms. Accili Sabbatini has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador to Hungary, Budapest (from 2012); Chairperson of the Trade Union of Foreign Office Personnel (from 2011); Secretary-General of the Commission of Italy for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 (from 2007); Minister Plenipotentiary (2004); Head of the Special Delegation at Taipei, Taiwan, Province of China (2003-2007); Inspector of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001-2003); Embassy Counsellor (1998); First Counsellor of the Permanent Mission to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France (1997-2001); Italian Delegate and Chairperson of the Budget Committee at the International Energy Agency; First Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan (1993-1997); Head of Research, Study and Planning Unit of the Directorate General for Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (from 1991); Legation Counsellor (1990); First Secretary for Commercial Affairs and later Counsellor, Embassy in Beijing, China (1986-1991); First Secretary (1985); Second Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Embassy in Rabat, Morocco (until 1986).
Ms. Accili Sabbatini holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza', and a Postgraduate Degree in 'Management of Public Organizations' from Collège d'Europe of Bruges, Belgium.
