VIENNA, 15 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Nations (Vienna), Mr. Omar Amer Youssef, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career Mr. Youssef has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Vienna (2016); Deputy Assistant Minister for the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2015-2016); Member of the Delegation of Egypt to the Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) (2015); Sherpa to the 2016 Washington Nuclear Security Summit (2014-2016); Deputy Chief of Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2014-2015); Director for Strategic and Security Organizations (NATO-OSCE-CICA) (2013-2014); Presidential Spokesman (2013); Deputy Head of National Steering Bureau, Egypt-EU Partnership Association (2012-2013); Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Egypt, Washington D.C. (2008-2012); Political Counsellor at the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2005-2008); First Secretary at the Embassy of Egypt in Vienna, and Alternative Representative of Egypt to the International Atomic Agency (IAEA) (2001-2005); Deputy Consul General, Sydney (1995-1999).
Mr. Youssef holds a Political Science Diploma and a B.A. in Mass Communication from Cairo University, Egypt.
He is married and has two sons and one daughter.
