New Permanent Representative of Qatar presents credentials

VIENNA, 8 February (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations (Vienna), Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career Mr. Al Thani, who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:

Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps, Arab League, Brussels (2016); First Ambassador of the State of Qatar accredited to NATO (2016); Head of the Mission to the European Union (2012); Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg (2012); Senior Coordinator of the seventh Forum for the Future: Doha 2011, Bridging the Gulf (2011); Counsellor, North and South American Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (2008); First Secretary, Embassy in Washington, D.C. (1996-2007); Third Secretary, American and European Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1996).

Mr. Al Thani holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Double Major in Political Sciences from the University of Arizona and a Master Degree of International Service from the American University, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Al Thani speaks Arabic and English.

Mr. Al Thani is married and has four children.
