New Permanent Representative of Tajikistanpresents credentials

VIENNA, 10 October (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations (Vienna), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Idibek Kalandar, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Kalandar who is also Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), has served in various capacities, among them:

Head of the Department for International Organization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2014-2017); First Secretary, Permanent Mission to the United Nations (2011-2014); Head of Section, International Organizations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2011); First Secretary, Advisor, Europe and Americas Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2009); Second Secretary, First Secretary, Embassy to Austria (2005-2008); First Secretary, Head of Section, International Organizations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2005); Second Secretary, Asia and Africa Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2004); Third Secretary, Personnel Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1995-1999).

Mr. Kalandar studied at the Foreign Languages Department, Dushanbe Pedagogical University. He holds a Master of Arts in Area Studies from Tsukuba University, Japan.

Mr. Kalandar speaks Tajik, Russian, English and Japanese.

Mr. Kalandar is married and has three children.
