VIENNA, 21 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations (Vienna), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Ibrahim Assaf, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Assaf has served in various capacities, among them:
Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy of Lebanon to the Kingdom of Bahrain (2012-present); Political Coordinator of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York during Lebanon's tenure in the Security Council (2009-2012); Advisor on issues related to Lebanon in the United Nations, Directorate General of the Presidency of Lebanon (2008-2009); Directorate of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants (2006-2008); Chargé d'Affaires, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (2005-2006); Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York (2004-2005); Vice Chairman of the Special Political and Decolonization Committee of the General Assembly (Fourth Committee) during its 58 th session (2003-2004); Secretary, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (2000-2006); Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy in Sierra Leone (1999-2000); Secretary, Embassy in Guinea (1998-1999); Secretary, Embassy in Sierra Leone (1996-1998); and Attaché, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants (1994-1996).
Mr. Assaf holds a BA. in Philosophy from Holy Spirit University, Kaslik, Lebanon and is a graduate of the National Institute of Administration and Development in Beirut.
Mr. Assaf speaks Arabic, French and English.
He is married and has three children.
