VIENNA, 2 March (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) - To celebrate International Women's Day, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will hold a panel discussion, entitled "From smart economics to smart workplaces", on 8 March 2017.
The event will build on discussions on why gender equality is smart economics and focus on how to empower women through the shaping of smart workplaces. Panellists will discuss examples of practices that can help promote diversity and inclusive work environments and address the gender gap in leadership and the drop-off of women at the middle management level.
H.E. Paulina Franceschi Navarro, Permanent Representative of Panama to UNIDO, will moderate a discussion between H.E. Helen Eduards, Permanent Representative of Sweden to UNIDO; Lisa Kepinski, founder of the Inclusion Institute; and Jitka Schmiedova, Project Manager for Erste Bank People Services.
The event will gather participants from the public and private sector, academia and civil society and United Nations staff.
The panel discussion will take place on Wednesday, 8 March 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m., in conference room C-1 (2nd floor), Vienna International Centre (VIC).
