VIENNA, 8 May (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) - The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) Clean Energy and Climate Investment Forum will be officially launched in Vienna on 10 May.
PFAN has raised USD 1.2 billion for 87 projects, representing an annual reduction of 2.7 million tons of CO2 equivalent, 701 MW of clean energy capacity and 140.7 GWh of energy savings for energy efficiency projects per year. The projects represent a diversity of technologies - solar, biogas, waste to energy, hydro, wind, biomass, energy efficiency, rural electrification, clean transport and sustainable energy for agriculture. PFAN works in 35 countries in all world regions. Asia and Africa currently dominate, with growth expected in Latin American and West Africa.
The event, organized on the sidelines of the 2017 Vienna Energy Forum by PFAN, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), will serve as a platform for match-making between investment-ready proposals for low carbon, climate resilient projects and businesses with prospective investors.
Selected project developers, working in Cambodia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Senegal and Ukraine, will compete at the forum for the PFAN Global Awards.
High-level panelists will include LI Yong, Director General, UNIDO; Martin HILLER, Director General, REEEP; Mette MØGLESTUE, Chair of PFAN Steering Committee, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Peter STOREY, Global Coordinator, PFAN.
Journalists are invited to cover the event and the high-level award ceremony taking place from 8:00 to 15:15, on Wednesday, 10 May, at the Palais Auersperg, Auerspergstrasse 1, 1080 Vienna.
