New Permanent Representative of Ecuador presents credentials

VIENNA, 9 March (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations (Vienna), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Carlos Alberto Jativa Naranjo, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Jativa Naranjo has served in various capacities, among them:

Under-Secretary of North America and Europe (since June 2017); Director of Regional Integration (2016); Director of the Bilateral Relations between Mexico and Central America and the Caribbean (2015); Designation as concurrent Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ecuador to the Principality of Monaco (2012); Rotation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Quito to the Embassy of Ecuador in France (2009); Designation as Under-Secretary of Bilateral Relations (2008); Designation as General Coordinator of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration (2008); Designation as the Executive Director of the Ecuadorian Institute for International Cooperation (2008); Designation as adviser of the external front at the Institute of High National Studies (2005); Rotation from the Embassy of Ecuador in Sweden to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Quito (2005); Designation as concurrent Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ecuador to the Republic of Latvia, Republic of Iceland, Republic of Estonia, Republic of Finland, and Kingdom of Denmark (2004); Rotation from the Embassy of Ecuador in the United States to the Embassy of Ecuador in Sweden (2003); Promotion from Minister to Ambassador (2003); Rotation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Quito to the Embassy of Ecuador in the United States, First Minister General Consul (2000); Director of the Department of Exhibitions and Competitions (1999); Economic Under-Secretary in Charge (1999); Rotation from the General Directorate of Cultural Relations to the General Directorate of International Trade Negotiations (1997); General Director for Cultural Relations and Director of the Diplomatic Academy (1997); Rotation from the Embassy of Ecuador in France to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Quito (1997); Promotion from Director Counsellor to Minister (1996); Rotation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Quito to the Embassy of Ecuador in France (1991); Promotion from First Secretary to Counsellor (1990); Director of the Department of Documentation and Archive (1989); Rotation of the permanent representation of Ecuador to the UN to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Quito (1989); Promotion from Second Secretary to First Secretary (1986); Rotation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Quito to the delegation of Ecuador to the UN (1983); Promotion from Third Secretary to Second Secretary (1982); and entry as Third Chancellor (1978).

Mr. Jativa Naranjo is a graduate from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Ecuador with a Doctorate degree in Law. He is a licensed attorney and has a Diplôme d'Études Superior - Diplomacy.

Mr. Jativa Naranjo speaks English, Russian and French.
