VIENNA, 8 March (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations (Vienna), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Maria Cleofe R. Natividad, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During her career, Ms. Natividad has served in various capacities, among them:
Permanent Representative of the Philippines to International Organizations in Vienna (since 2017); Assistant Secretary at the Office of European Affairs (2014-2017); Senior Special Assistant, Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (2014-2017); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Philippines in Berlin (2011-2014); Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt (2009-2011); Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General, Berlin (2009-2011); Chief of Staff for the Office of the Secretary Special Assistance, Office of International Economic Relations (2004-2008); Director and then Executive Director, Office of European Affairs (2004-2008); Minister, Philippine Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations and the World Trade Organization, Geneva (2002-2004); Minister and Consul General of the Philippine Embassy, Vienna (2000-2002).
Ms. Natividad also served as a Chief of Staff, Office of the Secretary (1997-2000); First Secretary and Consul, Philippine Embassy, Tokyo (1993-1997); Second Secretary and Consul, Philippine Embassy, Canberra (1989-1993); Director, Office of ASEAN Affairs and Office of American Affairs (1987-1989).
Ms. Natividad graduated with a Master in National Security Administration from the National Defence College of the Philippines (1999); Master of Arts in International Affairs from The American University, Washington D.C. (1984); and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Maryknoll College (1980). Additional education received in the Foreign Service Program at the University of Oxford (1990) and the National Institute for Public Administration in Malaysia (1998).
Additionally, Ms. Natividad has been awarded with a "Distinguished Award" of the National Defence College of the Philippines (2013); Gawad Mabini Award with the Rank of Dakilang Kamanong (Grand Cross) (2012); House of Representatives Resolution No. 2469 Commending and Recognizing the Outstanding Program of Activities of the Philippine Embassy at Federal Republic of Germany under the Leadership of Ambassador Maria Cleofe Natividad, (2012); and Outstanding National Defence College of the Philippines Alumnus Award, NDCP Alumni Association, Pasig City (2007).
Ms. Natividad speaks Filipino, English and German.
