New Permanent Representative of Belgium presents credentials

VIENNA, 30 August (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Belgiumto the United Nations (Vienna), Ghislain d'Hoop, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. d'Hoop has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador to Germany (2014-2018); Diplomatic Advisor to King Albert II: as Member of the Board of the Royal Household (2006-2013), as Deputy Chief of Staff (1997-2006), and as Diplomatic Advisor to Crown Prince Philippe (1997-2000); Minister-Counsellor, Embassy in Rome (1995-1997); Chief Spokesman, Head of the Press Division, Foreign Ministry (1992-1995); First Secretary, then Counsellor, Embassy in London (1988-1992); Second Secretary at the Belgian EU Representation in Brussels (1988); Member of the Secretariat of European Political Cooperation, Brussels (1987-1988); Member of the Secretariat (Troika) of European Political Cooperation during the UK's EU Presidency, Foreign Office, London (1986).

Ghislain d'Hoop studied International Affairs, Economics and European Affairs at Leuven University and Louvain-la-Neuve University.

Ghislain d'Hoop speaks Dutch, French, English, German and Italian.
