VIENNA, 10 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations (Vienna), Senén Florensa, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Florensa has served in various capacities, among them:
Consul General, Rome; Director General and Executive President, European Institute of the Mediterranean, IEMed, Barcelona; Ambassador at large, International Sports Cooperation; Ambassador to Tunisia; Director General, Institute for Cooperation with the Arab World, the Mediterranean and Developing Countries (ICMAMPD) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Madrid; President of the EUROMESCO network of think-tanks for Euro-Mediterranean studies; Consul General, Berlin; Member of the Organizing Committee of the Barcelona Olympic Games COOB'92; Assistant Delegate, Spanish Mission to UNESCO, Paris; Director of the Cabinet, Institute of Ibero-American Cooperation, ICI, Madrid; Advisory Member at the Office of the Prime Minister, with Presidents Suárez and Calvo Sotelo; Professor of International Economics at the University Complutense in Madrid and the Ramon Llull University in Barcelona.
Mr. Florensa holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He studied for his doctorate also at the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and at New York University. Mr. Florensa also holds degrees in Economics and in Law.
