VIENNA, 20 September (UN Information Service) - The new Head of the Permanent Observer Mission for the League of Arab States to the United Nations (Vienna), Mohamed Samir Koubaa, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Koubaa has served in various capacities, among them:
Director General for Political, Economic Affairs and Cooperation with Arab Countries, Arab and Islamic Organizations (2014-2018); Ambassador to Croatia (2013-2014); Ambassador to Slovakia (2013-2014); Ambassador to Slovenia (2011-2014); Ambassador to Austria, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (2011-2014); Chargé d'Áffaires, Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and International Organizations in Switzerland (2011); Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and International Organizations in Switzerland (2009-2010); Director, International Economic Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2009); Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations in New York (2003-2006); Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and International Organizations in Switzerland (2000-2003); Deputy Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-2000); Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and International Organizations in Switzerland (1991-1997); Head, Division of Cooperation with United Nations Economic Institutions and International Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-1991); and First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations in New York (1983-1988).
Mr. Koubaa holds a degree in Economics from the École Nationale d'Administration.
He speaks Arabic, English and French.
