VIENNA, 22 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Sudan to the United Nations (Vienna), Mirghani Abbaker Altayeb Bakhet, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Bakhet, who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:
Director General, Human and Financial Resources, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2016-2018); Ambassador, Director of the Sub-regional Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2015-2016); Ambassador to Iran (2011-2015); Ambassador, Director of the Real Estate Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2011); Deputy Head of Mission in Baghdad, Iraq (2006-2008); Chargé d'Affairs, Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq (2004-2006); Deputy Director of the European Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2003-2004); Minister Plenipotentiary and Counsellor, Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1997-2000); Office Director of State Minister Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin (1995-1996); First Secretary, Protocol and International Organizations Departments, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994-1995); Second Secretary, Embassy in London, United Kingdom (1990-1994); and Architect at the Ministry of Education, Projects Department, Sanaa, Yemen (1985-1990).
Mr. Bakhet holds a Master's degree in political science from the Middle East University in Amman, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Khartoum.
He speaks Arabic and English.
Mr. Bakhet is married and has five children.
