New Permanent Representative of Brazil presents credentials

VIENNA, 30 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations (Vienna), José Antonio Marcondes de Carvalho, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Marcondes de Carvalho has served in various capacities, among them:

Undersecretary General for Environment, Energy, Science and Technology (since 2013); Minister, First Class, Embassy in Caracas (2010-2013); Minister, First Class, Embassy in Rome, Special Representative to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (2007-2010); Director, Department of Integration (2003-2007); Director General, General Direction for Latin American Integration (1999-2003); Chief, Division of Regional Integration (1998-1999); Counsellor, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1993-1998); Undersecretary General for Integration, Economic and External Trade Affairs, Consultant and Chief of Cabinet (1992-1993); Presidency of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Consultancy for Social Affairs, Assistant (1991-1992); Deputy Chief, Special Division of Environment (1990-1991); First Secretary, Embassy in Havana (1987-1990); Second and First Secretary, Embassy in Washington (1982-1987); Assistant, Economic Department (1980-1982); Assistant, Division of Energy and Mineral Resources (1978-1980); and Assistant, Division of Base Products (1976-1978).

Mr. Marcondes de Carvalho is a graduate in Law from the University of the Federal District (UDF), Brasilia.
