New Permanent Representative of Guatemala presents credentials

VIENNA, 23 January (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the United Nations (Vienna), Manuel Estuardo Roldán Barillas, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Roldán has served in various capacities, among them:

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs (2017-2019); Ambassador to Belize (2015-2017); General Consul in Denver, United States (2012-2015); Ambassador to Brazil (2011-2012); Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs (2009-2011); Ambassador of the Cabinet of the Ministerial Office (2008-2009); Ambassador to Canada (2007-2008); Ambassador to Brazil (2003-2007); Minister Counsellor, Embassy in the United Kingdom (2001-2003); Minister Counsellor, Embassy in the United States (1999-2001); Minister Counsellor, Embassy in Mexico (1995-1999); Director of Integration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994-1995); First Secretary and Consul, Embassy in Brazil (1991-1994); Deputy Director to North America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1990-1991) and Counsellor, Head of the Panama Section, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-1990).

He studied Law at the Francisco Marroquín University of Guatemala, graduated in Diplomacy from the Rio-Branco Institute in Brazil and studied Political Science at Rafael Landívar University of Guatemala.

He speaks, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
