VIENNA, 25 January (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Lao People's Democratic Republicto the United Nations (Vienna), Sithong Chitnhothinh, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Chitnhothinh has served in various capacities, among them:
Advisor, European and America Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2019); Ambassador to Germany and non-resident Ambassador to Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland (2014-2018); Director General, Press Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2014); Ambassador to Japan (2007-2012); Acting Director General and later Director General, Asia-Pacific and Africa Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-2007); Deputy Director General, Asia-Pacific and Africa Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2001); Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy in Thailand (1995-1999); Director, South East Asia-Pacific and ASEAN Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1995); Acting Director, European Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994); Third Secretary later Chargé d'affaires a.i., Embassy in Poland (1991-1994); and Desk Officer, Lao-Hungarian Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1986-1990).
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Hungarian Language and literature from József Attila University in Hungary.
Mr. Chitnhothinh speaks English, French, Hungarian, Lao and Thai.
