New Permanent Representative of Armenia presents credentials

VIENNA, 29 January (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Armeniato the United Nations (Vienna), Armen Papikyan, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Papikyan who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (2016-2018); Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe (2011-2016); Counsellor, European Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011); Counsellor, Permanent Representative to the OSCE; Deputy Chief of Mission (2007-2011); Head of Conventional Arms Control Division, Arms Control and International Security Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2007); Second Secretary at the Embassy in Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva (2002-2005); Second Secretary, NATO Division, Arms Control and International Security Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2002); and as Attaché and Third Secretary, Bilateral Military Cooperation Division, Military-Political Department Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-1999).

He studied International Relations at Gladzor University, Yerevan in Armenia and at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University in the United States.

He speaks English, French and Russian. He is married and has two children.
