New Permanent Representative of Ghana presents credentials

VIENNA, 12 March (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Ghanato the United Nations (Vienna), Ramses Joseph Cleland, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Cleland who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva (2017-present); Minister Plenipotentiary and acting Head of Mission, Embassy in Lome (2016-2017);  Director of Europe Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (2013-2016);  Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Political Section, Ghana High Commission, London (2009-2012); Minister-Counsellor and Chargé d'Affairs, Embassy in Dublin (2008-2009); Research Assistant, Office of Chairman of Africa Union Commission (President of Ghana, J.A. Kufuor) (2007-2008); acting Director of Policy Planning and Research Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (2006-2007); Head of Chancery, Embassy in Abidjan (2003-2006); Counsellor, Embassy in Brasilia (2002-2003); Assistant Director I, State Protocol Department (2001-2002); Assistant Director I, Americas Bureau (2000-2001); Head of Chancery and Counsellor for Political and Economic Affairs, Paris (1996-2000); at the State Protocol Department, Office of the Vice President of Ghana (1992-1994); and at the Protocol Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (1989-1994).

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) from University of London and BPP School of Law.

He is married and has four children.
